Development and Verification of the Evaluation Methodology for Addictive Substance Use Primary prevention programmes

The study is a part of EUDAP (European Drug Addiction Prevention Trial), a large-scale European project of school preventive programme evaluation.

Social costs of alcohol, tobacco and illicit drug use in the Czech Republic in 2007

The study provides an estimate of the social costs of the use of the above-mentioned substances - alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs - in the Czech Republic in the year 2007. The project is funded by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. One of the expected outcomes is a broad publicly accessible database of social costs that will enable a comparison to be made between substances and cost categories.

Marijuana Markets in the Czech Republic – Evaluating different drug policy approaches

The basic aim of the project is to asses the impact of different drug policy approaches, both within a change in one locale and different approaches overseas. The methods used consist of both a quantitative and qualitative approach, and drug policy recommendations are expected as an outcome. The project also aims at screening a film documentary to display the specifics of marijuana use and the culture of its acquisition.

Development of a Coding System for Socio-Psychological Quantitative Content Analysis of Media Messages and its Combination with Qualitative Methods – Research Project

In 2007-2009, the Centre for Addictology carried out a research project that focused on developing and verifying a coding system for the socio-psychological quantitative content analysis of media messages. The effective functioning of the system was verified by its being used in the subject area of drugs.

Pilot Implementation of the EU-Dap 2 Project in Selected Schools in the Central Bohemian Region

The purpose of our project is to verify the possibility of implementing the EU-Dap 2 primary prevention model in selected elementary schools in the Central Bohemian region. Our goal is to provide the teachers from basic schools who are willing to participate in school primary prevention plans with the reliable tools. Our goal is schools that are, to a large degree, self-sufficient in primary prevention activities.

Evaluation of Addictive Substance Use Community-Based Primary Prevention Programme

The primary-prevention programme evaluation is a three-year research project which was launched in 2003 and has continued since 2004 thanks to the support provided by the Czech Science Foundation (GA CR No. 406/04/P250). The project is carried out in liaison with Prev-Centrum Praha, a civic association. Its key objective is to compare the differences between the results of an intervention featuring a community-based primary prevention programme and the application of a minimum prevention programme.
