International Scientific Conference - EPIDEMIOLOGY AND THE SOCIAL EFFECTS OF DRUG-TAKING IN THE VISEGRAD FOUR COUNTRIES

The University of Debrecen Medical and Health Science Centre, Health College Faculty, and our company are organising an international scientific conference on "Epidemiology and the social effects of drug-taking in the Visegrad Four Countries”, with the support of the International Visegrad Fund on 16-17 November 2006, in Nyíregyháza, Hungary.

The goals of the conference are to present the epidemiological situation and changes in drug-taking, the programmes for curbing it, and the methods applied for prevention, as well as other research projects in the Visegrad Four, to find solutions for international cooperation and its support, and, further, the aim of the conference is to create and support measures for tightening up international distribution networks.

We are expecting teachers and researchers working in higher education and in research institutes, policy-makers, and experts in prevention and rehabilitation to take part in the conference.


The conference will stimulate and strengthen the collaboration between universities, colleges, and research institutes and among those who use the results of research, such as health care workers and policy-makers from different Central European countries.

MAIN TOPICS OF THE CONFERENCE:


1. Epidemiology and the prevention of drug-taking in the Central European countries.
• Frequency of using drugs among children, young people, grown-ups, and special groups of society (prostitutes, prisoners).
• Problematic drug takers’ frequency of use.
• Education of students about drugs and their effects.
• Roles of teachers in the recognition of drug use.
• Health-developing methods used in addiction prevention.
• Examining the efficiency of health promotion programmes.
• Roles of the family, health care system, and civil organisations in prevention.
• Effects of legal regulations on drug-taking.
