The media picture of drugs in the European Union
The goal of the paper is to analyze the media picture of drugs in European Union between the years 1996 and 2005 according to Annual reports on drug situation submitted by National Focal Points of individual member states. Differences can be found between old and new member states, despite the fact drug use patterns don´t differ significanly between them. Some trends are being followed by new member states with a lagged effect, some are yet only expressed by the old member countries, such as a decline in criminal aspecs of media representations.
