In this thesis, the key indicators of so-called "tabloidisation“ were identified and then phenomena related to these indicators were found in the so-called "serious“ newspaper Lidové noviny. These indicators were: provincialism, panics, scandalisation, personalisation, populism, superficiality, and the choice of negative rather then positive aspects, all these in the context of referring to drug matters. The hypothesis was as follows. Lidové noviny, as a serious newspaper, underwent tabloidisation in the period between the years 1997 and 2004. Drug matters were chosen as a topic which indicates tabloidisation as a whole.
