Abstract

The misuse of psychoactive prescription medications with abuse potential is of increasing concern in Czechia and other European countries. Monitoring to establish the extent and consequences of prescription medication misuse is essential in implementing targeted public health efforts to reduce the associated risks and promote overall well-being. This initiative aims to exchange expertise and strengthen capacities in addiction/pharmacoepidemiological registry-based research and explore the potential for a joint research project on psychoactive prescription medication use. The primary goal is to advance research excellence and foster collaboration between Czechia and Norway, promoting a mutually beneficial partnership. We strive to acquire theoretical, methodological, and analytical know-how of Norwegian experiences with health registers and apply this knowledge to advance epidemiological research on prescription medication misuse in Czechia and Norway
